Lucky 15 January 23rd Part 2

6.00pm It has to be Wetherby tomorrow with a question mark over Leicester.

Tuesday Lucky 15

Wetherby 2.00                       CAPTAIN MOWBRAY                         9/2 general

Wetherby 2.30                       FINGERONTHESWITCH                      10/3 PP 11/4 general

Wetherby 3.00                       ASK PADDY                                         7/1 general

Wetherby 4.00                       ROBBING THE PREY                           3/1 general

and here’s why

Wetherby 2.00                       CAPTAIN MOWBRAY The horse and the yard are in cracking form and on his last run has to be a strong fancy here. He went in my notebook over course and distance last time as a winner without a penalty as the Racing Post analysis says “Held up, headway before 3 out, ridden and stayed on well after 2 out, slightly hampered by faller last, went 2nd towards finish”. Stable is 6 from 25 in last two months.

Wetherby 2.30                       FINGERONTHESWITCH Struggling to come to terms with chasing and his handicap mark is 19lb less than his hurdling mark. He steps down to C4 here and as there as many questions about the opposition. Fingerontheswitch’s disappointing chase form still makes him a major player. Tom Scudamore an unusual jockey booking for Neil Mulholland although he has ridden the horse before.

Wetherby 3.00                       ASK PADDY Showed improved form when stepped up in trip last time and goes another two furlongs here. Family England seem to know the time of day, and are 4 from 18 in the last two months. Many respected observers gave him a favourable mention and as a son of Ask, a sire gaining in popularity among the NH fraternity, I will weigh in. Have a sneaky feeling that price could well shorten!

Wetherby 4.00                       ROBBING THE PREY   I am quite happy to take on a David Pipe odds on horse, however big it’s reputation! The selection has itself been beaten at odds on but some of his form is starting to be franked and at the price I’m quite happy to side with Malcolm Jefferson and Brian Hughes.

Adam Norman observed two runs back “Robbing The Prey caught everyone’s eye last time and down in trip was very popular with that Hughes bloke doing the steering.” The winner that day was 4th to Neon Wolf in a C2 on Saturday!
