There are plenty of opportunities on the horizon but from what I can see very little solid value. Namely horses and prices I like but absolutely no indications from connections they are going to run!
On Saturday they are starting to price up a 3m chase at Haydock, the Peter Marsh, and the Keltbrays Holloway handicap hurdle 2.25 Ascot over 2m 3f. Again plenty on a shortlist but no confirmed runners and only a few firms priced up so it will be Friday lunchtime.
This Sunday there are two crackers in Ireland the coral.ie chase (2m 5f) and the coral.ie hurdle (2m). I’ve seen the five day dec’s and most of the top weights have come out of the chase but no market moves. In the hurdle hardly any are out and still all revolves around Heartbreak City going back hurdling off OR125 and just 10 stone (!?!) as 11/4 favourite. Sadly one that did come out was Okotoks which was very much on the shortlist. Can’t be a player until Friday lunchtime again.
Next Thursday is the wonderful Thyestes chase at Gowran Park over 3m 1f and looks a Gigginstown v Mullins major match for 59K euros! Couple I like and that doesn’t include the market mover and weekend winner Ball D’Arc.
Then on the 28th January not only Cheltenham trials day but the SkyBet chase at Doncaster over the fast, flat three miles. Again I have my eagle eye on a few but they have alternative entries. As soon as I am ready to fire you will be the first second to know.
Finally there is the Betfair hurdle on February 11th. I’ve had a little each way on Movewiththetimes as soon as the prices came out as he was top of my shortlist! I expect to expand the portfolio for that race over the next fortnight. To me there looked a lot of deadwood in it.
