5.30pm Struggling to get excited about Friday. Both the Sedgefield and Huntingdon jump cards are threatened by the weather and subject to morning inspections. So it’s no Lucky 15 tomorrow, I’m just going to put up a Nicky Henderson double on two shorties and there are a few of those due at Huntingdon tomorrow and hope the card gets the go ahead. The other three cards are All Weather which is not really my cup of tea although I’m beginning to take an interest in Newcastle.
Huntingdon 1.50 BURBANK 4/6
Impressive winner of his bumper and the beaten here by Glaring on his hurdling debut when hassled from two out and then got mugged. Hopefully he’ll be wiser this time.
Huntingdon 3.20 OO SEVEN 6/5
When he won at Cheltenham my notebook says” this is a serious horse”. Didn’t stay the 3 miles last time and he is a better horse going right-handed. I cannot believe he is in a handicap.
The double currently pays a bit better than 5/2 (William Hill).
Thursdays Lucky 15 showed a minimal profit but that’s a major step forward after the last couple of days! If you did them last night’s it was great prices, average results! 3 out of 4 halved in price!
Catterick 1.50 NINE ALTARS 5/1 general Sent off 9/4F 2nd
Every chance, failed by just 1¼ lengths to reel in the leader, having halved in price!
Catterick 2.50 STRAIDNAHANNA 10/1 general Sent off 11/2F 1st 25p rule 4 on early prices
Yippee a winner! Hope some of you got the bigger price. Smith/Cook solid pairing in these events.
Catterick 3.20 REILLYS MINOR 11/4 general Sent off 6/4F 4th
Another smashed in the market but was too keen early on and weakened badly from the second last.
Catterick 3.50 WILLIAM OF ORANGE 7/1 general Sent off 13/2 5th
Just not good enough, lost the winning habit.
Roll on Saturday!
